Aquaman (2018 Film)

Aquaman is the 2018 feature film based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

Jason Momoa reprises his role from the 2017 movie Justice League and tells the origin story of Arthur, son of a lighthouse keeper (Temuera Morrison) and an Atlantean Queen (Nicole Kidman). This makes him both outcast from and heir to the throne of Atlantis. This fact doesn't sit well with his half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson) who aspires to be king and Ocean Master himself and make war on the surface world. When Mera (Amber Heard) pleads for his help, Arthur has little choice but quest for the trident of Atlan and dethrone Orm.

The film is directed by James Wan from a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall. This film is generally seen as fast-paced and fun. It surprisingly broke all records for previous DC Extended Universe films, as well as any film based on DC Comics character up until then. The success of the film prompted an animated series for HBO Max, as well as a sequel planned for 2022.
