X-Men: First Class
X-Men: First Class is the 2011 prequel to 20th Century Fox's successful X-Men franchise, based on the Marvel Comics franchise of the same name.
This movie precedes Bryan Singer's film cycle, setting the action in the early 1960s where a young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and a young Magneto (Michael Fassbender) are forming a team of Mutants to withstand the growing threat posed by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and his Hellfire Club.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn from a script by Ashley Edward Miller, Jack Stentz, Jane Goldman and himself, the movie presented an upping of the ante in terms of action and also hewing slightly closer to the colorful style of the comics.
X-Men: First Class was a hit with fans and critics, and a smash at the box office, reinvigorating the ailing film franchise.
