Reported by Grant-morrison.com, 9/28/2001:

A posting on Grant-morrison.com reveals that parties in Hollywood are showing interest Grant Morrison's creator-owned Vertigo title The Invisibles.

In his online column Morrison writes, "The Invisibles has been optioned for development as a Hollywood feature once again. The production team will be known to many of you from a slightly different context but I'm extremely excited about this and think all fans of the book will be too."

The concept had previously been in development as a TV series for the BBC. Morrison himself was doing the adaptation there, but the project eventually ran aground. Many also believe that The Invisibles heavily influenced The Matrix.

Morrison promises "more details as they happen."

Thanks to Dark Horizons for the lead.

Reported In Corona Coming Attractions, 11/25/99:

Corona Coming Attractions reports that an adaptation of Grant Morrison's The Invisibles may be back on.  You may recall that Morrison was developing the concept as a BBC mini-series but that project reportedly ran aground.

However, a new scooper claims that an Invisibles feature film may be in the works and Artisan Entertainment (Blair Witch Project) may be involved.  CCA was unable to verify this information, so lets consider it rumor for now.

Reported In MANI, 3/22/99:

MANI columnist Matt Brady recently spoke to comic creator Grant Morrison.  One topic of conversation touched on was the proposed Invisibles TV series in development for the BBC.   Unfortunately, word on the show from the writer is not good.   Morrison told Brady that the show is "flailing in the water" and as far as he's concerned is dead.  "As far as I know, the BBC is just sitting on it," Morrison told Brady. "There's a woman up here who was connected with it that doesn't even know what telepathy is and keeps complaining about the story."

Although things look bad for that property, Morrison may yet make a comic book movie.  He tells Brady, "As far as other movies go, [Aztek collaborator] Mark Millar and I still have a big super hero plan which will be the next stage of superheroes in movie form. We figure that the only place for superheroes to go now is into movies cartoons and games, and we're just at the beginning of that now."

The extensive article also discusses Morrison's departure from writing the JLA as well as future plans for the Invisibles.
